The requirements in a complex network, as they may arise in casinos, are varied and range from the possibility of live transmission and display of complex scenes to integrated audio functionality. The DVR is often embedded in an enormous management system through which picture recording and replay have to be controlled. The overall system usually includes other functions such as building management, burglar alarm and fire alarm systems for instance. Any number of recorders are connected together via the network and are controlled and managed via SeMSy or PView management software.

In a network, the SeMSy^® technology, together with the DIS-1/2 systems (1-channel MPEG-2/-4 video streaming servers for audio/ video transmission & recording), allows the integration of any number of video and audio sources. The SeMSy^® technology, the virtual digital matrix, supports analogue camera input, monitor output and analogue audio interfaces for microphones, loudspeakers or public address systems. Its interfaces, for instance for the remote control of dome cameras, are transmitted transparently and facilitate easy integration of individual operating functions. The switching of individual components is independent of their spatial arrangement.

One important advantage of DIS systems is their dynamic noise reduction (DNR). The common problem of camera noise in video systems in general produces interference in the pictures. The recorder usually interprets this as a change in the picture and therefore as movement, so it stores additional picture information, thus making the data volume much greater without including any extra relevant picture content. Dallmeier electronic systems are fitted with a specially developed digital picture filter (DNR). The DNR eliminates this interference before the pictures are transmitted without reducing the picture resolution. The data volume to be transmitted is reduced enormously and this ensures a significantly more efficient use of bandwidth. In addition it also reduces general camera noise to a minimum. The recorder provides a clear, calm picture for pleasant working so that the important picture details can be picked out and analysed significantly faster.
